Areas of Practice

Overview

As a litigation lawyer Justin practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation and personal injury litigation.

Justin assists individuals in negotiating with and taking action against insurance companies in order to recover damages under automobile and property insurance policies. Personal injury claims include motor vehicle accidents and certain slip and fall incidents. Justin also represents individuals who have been denied disability benefits.

In commercial litigation Justin represents individuals and businesses involved in actual or anticipated lawsuits working to protect their legal interests in contract disputes, negligence claims, and commercial matters.

Civil litigation

Whether you are an individual or a business owner, I can help you pursue a claim or defend a lawsuit in Nova Scotia at any level of Court.

personal injury

Were you involved in a motor vehicle collision or have you suffered an injury from a slip and fall accident? Let me pursue fair compensation on your behalf so you can make recovery your priority.

Negligence

Have you suffered bodily harm or property damage as a result of a product malfunction? Did you hire a professional who made serious errors while working on your behalf? We can discuss whether you have a claim.

commercial disputes

Did you hire someone and the job isn't done or there are deficiencies? Did you complete a job and aren't getting paid? Let's talk about your possible claims and remedies.

contract disputes

Do you have an agreement but the other side isn't holding up his or her end of the bargain? Are you having difficulty meeting your contractual obligations? I'll review the fine print with you.

debt collection

Does someone owe you a specific sum of money? We can file a Notice of Action for Debt to help you recover what you are owed.

settlement negotiation

The majority of claims aren't decided by a judge or jury. I can help you negotiate a settlement through alternative dispute resolution (mediation or arbitration).

Insurance

Was your home flooded or did you suffer a fire loss and your insurer is denying all or part of your claim? Let's review the terms and conditions to make sure you receive the benefit of the premiums you paid.

Disability Claims

Have you been denied disability insurance or has your insurer terminated your payments and you are getting nowhere on your own? Let's see if you have been wrongly denied disability benefits.

Regulatory Offences

Were you issued a Summary Offence Ticket but you don't know if you have a viable defence? Don't just ask your friends, consider consulting a lawyer.

notary services

Maybe you just need a notarized copy of a document or you have to sign a document before a barrister or notary public. I can help with that too.

Real Property

Are you thinking about buying or selling a home? We also do real estate transactions and property migrations.

Are you self-represented?

Hiring a lawyer can be expensive and there are times when you may choose to represent yourself. For example, you may have a valid legal claim but your potential recovery may not justify your anticipated legal expense. For various reasons, an increasing number of litigants are self-represented. If you are acting on your own, or you are thinking about it, check out the Resources page for some reference material that may help you prepare.

If you are having difficulty navigating the Court’s process or you are uncertain as to how to legally frame a claim or defence and properly assert it, I may be able to help you with your specific issue(s) on a limited scope retainer. You might find that some direction from a lawyer is all you need to get back on track with your claim or defence.
